Red’s 2026 Weekly Six Pack Picks – Week 2

Red pretty much stunk it up on Week 1 going 3-3 head up. The Broncos looked awful and the Texans’ defense was exposed by the Bills. Even the Jets made Red look bad. Better times ahead?

Your Early Game Pick of the Week –  The Thursday night game is an interconference banger this week when the Lions travel to the shores of Lake Erie (pending some stupid renaming by the Reality TV Show Joke of a President) to face the Bills.  It’s good to get that trip to Buffalo over early in the season.  Red expects the Bills to take this one at home after losing at Houston in Week 1.  Josh Allen must realize that his window is closing in Buffalo and that his only recourse may be to demand a Matthew Stafford type trade to Seattle.  But that will wait until the off-season.  Detroit will, however, give the Bills what for and make this one close.  Buffalo 24 Detroit 21.

Your Texas Game Pick of the Week – Red heads to North Texas this week to see the Commanders handle the Cowboys in Arlington.  The Cowboys looked out of sync last week and could not keep the offense on the field. It was hard to see any silver linings for a Cowboys team that was rather thoroughly dominated by a run of mill Giants squad playing with newfound toughness under Harbaugh. On the other side of the ball, the Commanders had a more than respectable showing in losing to the Eagles. A questionable 43 yard TD throw to Goedert that could have been negated by an illegal procedure penalty was the difference. Still this will be close. Washington 19 Dallas 17.

Your Must Watch Game Pick of the Week – After seeing the Bears put up 59 – count ’em – 59 points last week, this looks like a team that bears (no pun intended) watching this week. Almost undoubtedly that will be the high point total for any offense in 2026. NFL teams almost never reach into the 60’s. And the Vikings also surprised racking up 39 points in demolishing the Packers. Of course both teams probably regress to the mean this week, but Red is going all in for an offensive onslaught. Chicago 42 Minnesota 38.

Your Grudge Match Game Pick of the Week – There is no love lost between the Steelers and the Patriots and Red can’t stand either franchise. Neither one will be adding to their lofty championship numbers this season, but it still will be a dog fight on Sunday. Red likes the Steelers’ dog. Pittsburgh 20 New England 14.

Your Uncategorized Pick of the Week – Normally, Red might go with a triple reverse time zone hex game in looking at the 49ers traveling to South Florida, but Red thinks that even that is not enough to guarantee a win for the Dolphins. Instead, Red looks a bit further north as the Panthers hit the road to Atlanta to face the Falcons. And because this one is uncategorized, Red will simply say he likes the Panthers to bounce back from the incredible ass-whomping the Bears handed them in Charlotte last week. Red wonders how many fans were left at the two-minute warning. Carolina 33 Atlanta 10.

This Week’s Shit Bowl – There is not a lot to choose from this early in the season as it is a bit of guesswork for Red to determine what teams already suck.  There appears to be a potential playoff team in almost every matchup this weekend.  But Red has to pick so based on the Chargers totally pathetic showing in Week 1 and the Raiders getting the luck of the draw in facing the hapless Dolphins, Red will choose this match-up for the Shit Bowl. And for a change, you may not need to put away your hammer or other bludgeoning tool as it seems unlikely that you will want to destroy that 90 inch LG in your man cave while watching this one. Los Angeles 28 Las Vegas 27.
