Texas Congressman and alleged human being Louie Gohmert (TP-Crazyville) decided against a self-quarantine after being exposed to the coronavirus at the Conservative Political Action Conference last week. Other Republican lawmakers including Ted Cruz, Mark Meadows, Matt Gaetz, and Doug Collins acted responsibly in deciding to self-quarantine. But not fearless Louie. Claiming that he was cleared to work by a “physician” while probably wondering if his lips would be just a bit too far from Trump’s behind if he actually acted prudently, Gohmert has returned to the halls of Congress.
That would be bad enough, but rather than make any attempt to limit exposure to others Gohmert chose instead to lead a group of over 100 children around the Capitol. Gohmert did claim that he would not shake hands with any of the kids. His overlord and protector Trump is surely happy.
Almost every day Red wonders – is Our Poor Idiot Governor really the pathetic and pitiable idiot constantly pandering to the GOP’s basest denizens that he appears to be? The answer turns out to be yes.
Long time readers will remember the public freakout over the routine military exercise dubbed Jade Helm 15 that was displayed by such apparently all-too-easily fooled notables of the Texas GOP establishment such as OPIG, Lyin’ Ted Cruz, the moronic Louie “Kablooie” Gohmert and the always disappointing John “Pandermaster” Cornyn. At the urging of them and a host of fanatic right wingers convinced that jackbooted federal troops under the command of that Muslim Kenyan terrorist (who somehow managed to win the presidency in a landslide) were coming to Texas to take away their women, children and most importantly guns, OPIG called out the Texas National Guard to keep an eye on our heretofore most worshipful military. Well, it turns out that much of the Jade Helm hype was the work of – wait for it – Russian trolls and bots. So yes, OPIG is just that – a pitiful excuse for a state leader. The Texas Observer has the full story.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s willingness to pander to the manic extremism broadcast through AM radio airwaves and streamed on the margins of YouTube apparently has him playing right into the hands of Russian disinformation campaigns.
At least that’s what former NSA and CIA director Michael Hayden said on a “Morning Joe” podcast about the governor’s decision in 2015 to deploy the Texas State Guard to monitor federal troops. Hayden said, “There was an exercise in Texas called Jade Helm 15 that Russian bots in the American alt-right media convinced most — many — Texans was an Obama plan to round up political dissidents.”
Abbott fell right into the trap, Hayden said, by legitimizing conspiracy theories with official state action. “At that point, I’m figuring the Russians are saying, ‘We can go big time,’ and at that point I think they said ‘We’re going to play in the electoral process.’”
If Hayden’s report is right, then the governor of Texas was fooled into siccing the Texas State Guard on U.S. troops by Russia.
Rep. Louie Gohmert (TP-Texas) is refusing to attend any town halls in his district because he is scared that he might get shot.
“At this time there are groups from the more violent strains of the leftist ideology, some even being paid, who are preying on public town halls to wreak havoc and threaten public safetyis afraid of being shot.”
Of course, Gohmert offers no evidence of his “fake news” regarding people being paid to attend town halls and no evidence that any violence has erupted at such an event. Gohmert went so far as use the shooting of former Rep. Gabby Giffords as an excuse for his cowardice. Loony Louie pathetically attempted to cloak his spinelessness in the context of protecting his constituents. Gohmert claims that the House Sergeant at Arms advised him after Giffords was shot that the “civilian attendees at Congressional public events stand the most chance of being harmed or killed.”
As a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, I am sure that Gohmert would fully support citizens openly sporting firearms at any town hall and according to NRA theology that will prevent anyone from acting up – because “an armed society is a polite society.” Take your own gun Louie and out draw the bad guys.
So why is Gohmert really afraid to face his constituents? Could it have anything to do with the challenges that other members of Congress are getting at their events? Could it have anything to do with LG’s inability to string coherent thoughts together in response to a sensible argument? Or is Gohmert just a spineless little coward?
Rep. Louie Gohmert (TP-Tyler) claims that Hillary Clinton is mentally impaired.
“A true believer does what Jesus did … you don’t make fun of people who are impaired, have special needs, and whether you like her or not, Hillary Clinton’s made clear, she is mentally impaired.” Gohmert later commented that “Hillary’s brain is in a blender.”
Red has to defer to the Tea Party darling from east Texas on the subject of mental impairment since it has long been clear that Gohmert isn’t firing on all cylinders himself. Gohmert is well-known for his idiotic statements. What is incredible is that this guy was actually the Chief Justice of one of our Texas Courts of Appeals and was in a position to directly impact the lives of the people whose cases were before his court. Gohmert wants to keep playing the clearly discredited – Hillary is brain damaged from a fall back in 2012 card – as though he actually had a medical diagnosis of Clinton. Just the kind of excrement that typically flows from Gohmert’s mouth in an almost uncontrollable flow.
Here is a small sample of some of the stupidity that has come from Gohmert’s mouth.
Speaking of the Alaska pipeline Gohmert commented, “So when [caribou] want to go on a date, they invite each other to head over to the pipeline. … So my real concern now [is] if oil stops running through the pipeline … do we need a study to see how adversely the caribou would be affected if that warm oil ever quit flowing?” Gohmert is apparently unaware that the Caribou survived for millennia without the benefit of flowing oil.
Talking about the Obama administration, Gohmert claimed, “This administration has so many Muslim Brotherhood members that have influence that they just are making wrong decisions for America.” Unfortunately for Louie, he was unable to point to any actual MB members making policy in DC.
